GEOGRAPHIC SPECIALTIES
And Continually Learning
UNITED STATES
The New England, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Midwest Regions of the United States are my areas of expertise. However, research in West Virginia would be tackled in the same manner as in Wyoming, having also done some research there. Knowing the value of information on each record, helps collectively to gain a broader understanding of the family history of any one individual no matter what part of the country they live. With various subscription memberships, I have access to a wide range of records to learn about the individual or about the individual state I am researching at the time. Understanding the history of each location will build a more precise story for each individual. Whether records are missing or have been burned, there are always other ways to make new discoveries in your family history.
COMMONWEALTH OF UNITED KINGDOM
With Berkshire and Cambridgeshire being my main area of expertise in England, I again can use similar techniques to open new areas of research. With subscription memberships to three of the best website repositories in the United Kingdom, as well as access to valuable genealogical societies, it takes more than just parish registers to be confident in this research. I also have some knowledge of the Scotland Archives and can help beginner researchers here.
EUROPEAN RESEARCH
With the ability to decipher records in a few different languages, research in German, Norwegian, and French records have opened up new discoveries. Unable to speak any of these languages, my research experience in these locations has helped me glean the valuable information in each record. Whether in the parish records of Germany, or the National Archives of Norway, or France, I continue to gain a better understanding of available records in these locations. Having just touched the surface in Italian records, I am learning here as well, but need more experience. Yet, if I can't help with your individual research question, I will try to help you find a researcher who can, before taking on a big project, where I am not comfortable.
